Axopar and Founding Partner Jan-Erik Viitala are one of the 10 finalists in the 'EY Entrepreneur Of The Year' competition in Finland

Axopar and its Founding Partner, Jan-Erik Viitala, have been selected as one of the top 10 finalists for the prestigious 'EY Entrepreneur Of The Year' award in Finland. With this nomination, EY aims to recognize growth entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievements. For Axopar, this recognition celebrates not only the achievements of Jan-Erik Viitala but also reflects the vision and passion that have shaped the company since its founding in 2014.
The 'EY Entrepreneur Of The Year' competition is regarded as the world’s most prestigious entrepreneurial competition, with thousands of entrepreneurs participating each year across 60 countries. In Finland, ten growth companies were selected from 53 participants for the 2024 final. The winner of the Finnish competition, to be announced at a gala held on November 8, will have the honor of representing Finland in the 'EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year World Championship' held in June 2025.
"This year's finalists reflect the diversity of the Finnish business scene, and it is great to see a wide range of industries and business models represented in the competition. The creativity and ability of entrepreneurs to develop new solutions is inspiring and shows that Finland is full of potential that can impact the market not only domestically but also internationally," says partner Juha Hilmola, director of the 'EY Entrepreneur Of The Year' program.
The winner of the competition is chosen by an independent jury, which represents versatile experience from different industries. In addition to the main category winner, the Family Entrepreneur of the Year and the Startup Entrepreneur of the Year will also be awarded. Additionally, a unique EY Tech award for the technology sector will be given. In the 2024 competition, growth company investor and board professional Leena Niemistö, is the chairperson of the jury.
"Several excellent candidates participated in the competition, and the jury had a tough time choosing the finalists. This group of finalists stood out with their visions, creativity, and growth stories, which convinced us that they can significantly influence the future of their field," says Leena Niemistö.
The jury evaluates the candidates based on the competition’s international criteria. The winning entrepreneur must have strong values and exemplary leadership of their company. The company’s strategy should stand out from competitors, and the business must grow and succeed in its market while creating value for its stakeholders.
The winner will be announced on November 8th, and the public can vote on their favorite through this link (in Finnish).
