If you’ve ever felt a meditative, weightless feeling of magic, chances are you’ve discovered the art of e-foiling. Some compare it to riding a snowboard in fresh powder, while others liken it to flying. Over Mallorca's crystal-clear waters, the latter metaphor is easy to understand. With the seabed visible several meters beneath your feet, you glide silently and seemingly effortlessly, creating that staggering, tingling sensation of flying and an exceptional sense of freedom. The freedom to explore.
Despite its futuristic appearance, e-foiling is surprisingly intuitive, and most first-time riders are up and flying within an hour, regardless of previous board-sport experience. The key to learning to ride a Fliteboard is to start on your knees, build speed gradually, get a feel for how the board responds, and stand when it feels right. Before you know it, you’ll be hovering over the water, having your first genuine e-foil experience. Foils react instantly to shifts in weight, so make subtle adjustments, keep pressure on your front foot, stay loose in the knees, and keep your eyes on the horizon. Also, always remember to wear a helmet and a personal flotation device.
The setting sun turns the cliffs golden, and the water below shifts from turquoise to deep blue, a cue for our adventurers to wind down after a day of flying, enjoying the last of their snacks and sharing stories that only get better with each retelling. What started as Katja’s way back to the water has become something she shares with her daughter, a bond built one ride at a time. Around them, this Mediterranean paradise begins to embrace the calm that nightfall brings. The daytime wind disappears, the air cools, the sounds become clearer, and the first stars appear as the last daylight fades. The anchor comes up, the bow turns again, and the next adventure is never more
than a short ride away. That’s the freedom to explore.
"With a Fliteboard on board, there is so much more to be explored."
