Axopar Completes the 38 Range with the All-New Cross Top — A Unique Balance Between Openness and Protection

Press release08.09.2026

Positioned between the enclosed Cross Cabin and the open Sun Top, the all-new Axopar 38 Cross Top completes Axopar’s range of three 38 variants built on a single platform, each suited to a different way of spending time on the water. The Axopar 38 Cross Top makes its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, 8–13 September 2026, on Stand 160 in the Power Boat Marina.

With the introduction of the Axopar 38 Cross Top, the all-new Axopar 38 range now comprises the fully enclosed 38 XC Cross Cabin, the open 38 Sun Top and the 38 Cross Top positioned between them. Together, they allow owners to select the boat that best matches the way they spend time on the water.

Where openness meets protection

All three Axopar 38 models share the same hull, deck plan, engine options and modular interior. Their principal difference is the level of enclosure, allowing each variant to serve a distinct way of boating.

The fully enclosed 38 XC Cross Cabin suits owners who want the full protection of a cabin: shelter from wind, spray and sun, longer passages in comfort, and a boat that is ready to go regardless of the forecast. The open 38 Sun Top comes into its own on shorter runs, time spent at anchor and days built around sun, swimming and socializing, while the 38 Cross Top combines a sheltered helm with an open cockpit for owners who want elements of both in one boat. Many owners value openness and protection alike, depending on the day and how they use the boat.

The Cross Top is designed for owners who do not want to choose between the two. Its helm and forward section are sheltered by a distinctive forward-tilting wraparound windshield that reduces wind chill, spray, glare and water-droplet buildup while maintaining excellent visibility. Behind the helm, the cockpit and aft deck remain open, retaining the social atmosphere and close connection to the water associated with the Sun Top. Optional roll-down canopies add protection when conditions change and can be stowed again when they improve.

The result is a boat suited to a wider range of days and conditions. It makes early-season outings and longer coastal passages more comfortable, while a change in the weather need not bring the day to an end. On warm days, it retains the character of an open boat.

“Our ambition was never simply to design three different models. It was to build one platform capable of serving genuinely different ways of boating, without asking anyone to compromise to get there. The Cross Cabin, Sun Top and Cross Top are three distinct ways to experience the water, sharing the same Axopar DNA.” – Jan-Erik Viitala, Founding Partner, Axopar

A shared platform

All three 38s are built on the same twin-stepped 20-degree V hull with sharp entry, an overbuilt stringer system and optimized weight distribution. Twin Mercury Verado outboards — V8 300 hp or V10 350 hp — take the boat past 45 knots, with cruise consumption of roughly 3.0 liters per nautical mile and a range of approximately 250 nautical miles from the standard 830-liter tank.

Owners can configure the boat across the bow, cockpit, front cabin and aft deck, with individual helm seats or convertible U-sofas with electric hi-lo tables, a pantry module, an optional enclosed toilet with shower, and foldable activity platforms aft for swimming and watersports. The front cabin sleeps two, with two further berths available.
