Axopar Introduces Simrad NSO® 4, Expanding Helm Choice on its Flagship Models

Press release08.09.2026

Axopar is expanding its premium helm offering with the introduction of the Simrad NSO® 4 multifunction display platform on selected models. Offered as an option on the Axopar 45 and BRABUS Shadow 38 ranges, and as standard on the BRABUS Shadow 45 range from model year 2027 onwards, NSO® 4 provides a fully integrated touchscreen helm alongside the existing NSS® 4 display, giving owners a cleaner, faster and more intuitive helm experience with the freedom to choose the interface that best suits the way they drive.

Both displays run the same Simrad NEON™ operating system and share the same underlying capability, differing principally in how the driver interacts with them.

A choice of helm experience

Owners differ in how they prefer to interact with their boat. Some value the tactile confidence of a physical control that can be located without looking away from the water and remains easy to operate in a seaway or with wet hands. Others prefer an uninterrupted glass surface and a smartphone-like interface that keeps the dashboard as clean and unobtrusive as possible. With NSS 4 and NSO 4 offered alongside one another, both preferences are accommodated across the flagship range.

At the helm

NSO 4 serves as the central control hub of the boat, bringing navigation, radar, sonar, engine data, onboard systems and camera feeds together in a single interface. With no physical controls on the display itself, it integrates flush into the dashboard, complementing the uncluttered helm design of the Axopar 45 and BRABUS Shadow ranges.

Responsiveness is improved throughout. Simrad quotes a 35% faster boot time than the previous generation, and the eight-core processor allows charts, radar and camera views to run simultaneously without loss of performance, so that the helm remains fluid and predictable even when several applications are in use at once.

On Axopar boats, NSO 4 operates alongside the dedicated Axopar User Interface rather than replacing it.

“Some owners prefer the tactile confidence of physical controls; others want the simplicity of a fully integrated touchscreen helm. Our goal is not simply to offer the latest technology, but to let customers choose the helm experience that suits the way they actually drive.” — Kari Kulojärvi, CEO, Axopar

Simrad NSO 4 is offered initially with a twin 16-inch display setup on the Axopar 45 range as part of a premium option package, and as the standard helm setup on the BRABUS Shadow 45 range from model year 2027 onwards. On the BRABUS Shadow 38 range, the 16-inch NSO 4 is available as part of the optional Extended Navigation Package. Visitors to the Cannes Yachting Festival, 8–13 September 2026, will be able to experience the display firsthand aboard the BRABUS Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin displayed at Stand 160.
